Welcome to Wendy's Cottonthread Cottage! My name is Wendy
Kaschmitter and I started my Primitive designing business 14 years
ago on our family farm when I was pregnant with our second child. I
gave up a career as a hairstylist and thought I would give the
crafting business a try and the rest is history! LOL! I began to sew
when I was 6 years old when my mom taught me simple embroidery
stitches. From there my passion and love for sewing was nurtured by
my grandma throughout the years.
I give all the Glory to God for this talent He has given me to
create and the passion to design. I'm inspired daily in so many ways
through my husband, our four children and everyday life.
My passion is designing & creating Country Primitive dolls, quilts, stitcheries, pillows and more using cotton homespun fabrics in rich
colors and I love to search for treasures at yardsales or thrift
shops including old buttons, fabrics, doilies anything vintage or
that I can tea stain!
My speciality is quality and finishing touches from the tiniest
stitches to the vintage buttons to the richly dyed homespun fabrics.
My patterns and finished designs reflect these signature touches and
a "timeworn" look from days gone by which I lovingly share with you.
Although I'm a detailed person, I've designed my patterns to be easy
and fun to make for the beginner to the advanced sewer. My hope is
that you will be inspired and blessed by my pattern designs in a
special way and add your own special little touches while doing so.
I'm always looking for new unique products to use on my dolls
including the latest wool doll hair while also trying new
techniques. I'm in the process of updating my website with an entire
new look so I hope you will find a moment in your busy life to come
visit me often and see what's new!! I'm always learning and trying
new things and I love to share!!
Soon I will be sharing the latest Primitive Crafting Techniques and
will be selling the wool doll hair that I use on my dolls as well as
making and selling my OOAK finished dolls and quilts! So do come
back often and bring lots of friends too!!
My greatest accomplishment and blessing in this business was being
featured on the front cover of the Jan/Feb 2000 issue of Country
Woman magazine! Again, I give all the Glory to God as without him
I'm nothing but with Him I can do all things and so can you!
I hope you enjoy these and those yet to come and look for unique One
of a Kind finished dolls and more inspirations from The Primitive
Cottage Collection coming soon.
Thank you for stopping by and have a fabulously blessed day!!
Prim Blessings! Wendy |
